Jerusalem Old New Cities Tour from Tel Aviv

Detailed itinerary:

Begin your full-day tour with a hotel pickup in an air-conditioned coach. See Jerusalem’s skyline from the top of Mt. Scopus. From afar, we spot the Old City and Temple Mount, where the golden dome of the Dome of the Rock stands out as a stunning photo opportunity. Down below, a 3,000-year-old Jewish cemetery catches our eye. As we continue on, we pass by the Garden of Gethsemane, the Church of All Nations, and the Kidron Valley, which is home to ancient Jewish tombs.

Continue into the Old City through the Zion Gate to Jerusalem’s Cardo, the main thoroughfare of Byzantine Jerusalem. In the Jewish Quarter, visit the Western Wall, or Wailing Wall, the holiest of Jewish sites. The wall is about 2,000 years old, its cracks filled with the prayer papers from the thousands of people that visit here. Here, you have the opportunity to leave a prayer note between the ancient stones of the Wailing Wall.

Further along in the Christian Quarter, walk along the Via Dolorosa, the street that Jesus traveled on the way to his crucifixion. The Via Dolorosa, meaning “Way of Sorrow” in Latin, is one of the most significant religious sites in Jerusalem. It is believed to be the path that Jesus Christ walked carrying his cross on the way to his crucifixion. The route winds through the narrow streets of the Old City, passing through various stations of the cross, each marking a significant event in Jesus’ final journey. The stations include the place where Jesus met his mother, where he stumbled and fell, and where Simon of Cyrene helped him carry the cross.

The final stations of the Via Dolorosa lead to the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, where Jesus was crucified and buried. The Church of the Holy Sepulchre, located in the Christian Quarter of the Old City of Jerusalem, is one of the most significant religious sites in the world. It is believed to be the location where Jesus Christ was crucified, buried, and resurrected.

The church is built on the site known as Golgotha or Calvary, where Jesus was crucified. Inside the church, there is a large stone believed to be the site of the tomb where Jesus was buried. The church also houses other important religious sites, including the Chapel of St. Helena, where it is believed that the True Cross was found, and the Chapel of Adam, where Adam is believed to have been buried.

At the entrance of the Church of the Holy Sepulchre in Jerusalem, there is a large stone called the Stone of Anointing or the Stone of Unction. It is believed to be the spot where the body of Jesus was prepared for burial by Joseph of Arimathea and Nicodemus, according to the New Testament. The stone is anointed with fragrant oil by the faithful who visit the church, and it is also a popular site for pilgrims to pause and reflect on the solemnity of the events that took place at the church.

The importance of the Church of the Holy Sepulchre extends far beyond its religious significance. It is also an architectural marvel, showcasing a blend of various architectural styles from different periods, including Crusader, Byzantine, and Renaissance. Its impressive interiors and intricate mosaics draw visitors from around the world.

The Church of the Holy Sepulchre is one of the most sacred pilgrimage sites, and its significance cannot be overstated. It is a place where they can come to connect with their faith, reflect on the life and sacrifice of Jesus Christ, and gain a deeper understanding of the history of their religion. Even for non-Christians, the Church of the Holy Sepulchre remains a fascinating and awe-inspiring monument, rich in history and cultural significance.

After a morning of exploring some of Jerusalem’s most iconic religious and historical sites, the tour pauses for a lunch break before heading to new Jerusalem, passing through the modern city before arriving at the Yad Vashem Holocaust Museum. This powerful museum offers a poignant reminder of the atrocities committed during the Holocaust, with a vast collection of authentic artifacts, original documents, photographs, and video testimonials from survivors.

After a moving and informative visit to the museum, the tour concludes with a transfer back to the pickup point and a return to the hotel. This comprehensive tour offers a unique perspective on the rich history and culture of Jerusalem, from ancient religious sites to modern-day landmarks.

*On Saturdays and Jewish holidays, instead of Yad Vashem, drive to Ein Karem, southwest of Jerusalem, traditionally known as birthplace of John the Baptist; Stroll in the narrow lanes of the picturesque neighborhood, stopping by Mary’s spring and continue to visit the remarkable Church of Saint John the Baptist.

An Exceptional Journey: 5 out of 5

★★★★★
We recently took the 5-day Israel tour package offered by Compass and it was an absolutely amazing experience. From start to finish, the tour was expertly planned and executed, with every detail thought out and taken care of. The accommodations were top-notch (upgraded), and the transportation was comfortable and efficient. The itinerary was packed with interesting activities and sights, including visits to historical and religious sites, as well as some beautiful natural scenery. Our tour guide was a wealth of knowledge and made the experience even more enjoyable with their enthusiasm and passion for the destination. I appreciated the small group size, as it allowed for a more personalized experience. The tour offered a perfect balance of free time and structured activities, allowing us to fully immerse ourselves in the culture and history of Israel. I can't recommend Compass enough for their 5-day Israel tour package. They truly know how to showcase the best that the destination has to offer. It was an incredible trip, and I would give it a 5 out of 5 stars.

Unforgettable Experience from Haifa Port

We recently went on a private tour of the Nazareth and Galilee area with Avi from Compass as our guide, and I have to say it was one of the best tours I've ever taken. Avi was an exceptional guide - knowledgeable, personable, and passionate about the area. He went above and beyond to make sure we had an unforgettable experience. From the moment we met Avi, we knew we were in good hands. He has a wealth of knowledge about the history and culture of the region, and he shared it with us in an engaging and interesting way. He was also very accommodating and attentive to our needs and interests. He was able to tailor the tour to our specific wants and needs. Avi took us to some truly breathtaking sights and was able to provide in-depth information and context for each location. He was also great at making sure we were comfortable and had everything we needed throughout the day. I would highly recommend Compass to anyone looking for a private tour guide in the Nazareth and Galilee area. He is an expert in his field, and his love for the area shines through in everything he does. He truly made our tour an unforgettable experience and I'm sure it will be the same for anyone who chooses to tour with Compass Travel Israel

Un sueño hecho Realidad!

★★★★★
