Day 2: Jerusalem Follow in the footsteps of Jesus Christ. Bethlehem Birth of Jesus

Spend a full day exploring 2 most important cities, Jerusalem and Bethlehem, visit sites of religious and historical importance, including UNESCO World Heritage sites. Start on Mount Scopus with a panoramic view of Jerusalem. Then pass the Garden of Gethsemane, Church of All Nations and Kidron Valley to reach the Old City.

Enter the Old City via the Zion Gate and walk through the Armenian and Jewish quarters to the recently excavated and restored Cardo, the Roman Road. The southern part of the Cardo, uncovered in the Jewish Quarter, was built during the reign of the emperor Justinian (527-565), as a continuation of the earlier, Roman, northern part, linking the two main churches of Byzantine Jerusalem, Church of the Holy Sepulcher and The Nea Church.

Reach to the Jewish Wailing Wall, The Kotel. The Wailing Wall or Western Wall is an ancient limestone wall in the Old City of Jerusalem. At the Western Wall (the Wailing Wall), you’ll step into one of the most sacred places in the world. As you stand before these ancient stones, witnesses to thousands of years of faith and history. You’ll have the special opportunity to place your own personal note or prayer into the Wailing Wall.

Continue to the Christian Quarter.  Walk along the Via Dolorosa and visit the Church of Holy Sepulchre. Following the very path Jesus walked from His judgment to His crucifixion, the Via Dolorosa invites us to journey through history with every step. The Via Dolorosa is a processional route in the Old City of Jerusalem. It represents the path that Jesus would have taken, forced by the Roman soldiers, on the way to his crucifixion.  Via Dolorosa (Latin for “Sorrowful Way” or “Way of Suffering”) is a narrow, stone path believed to be the route Jesus took to His Crucifixion nearly 2000 years ago. It is here that Christians relive and celebrate Christ’s Passion, Death and Resurrection. This meaningful walk leads us to the Church of the Holy Sepulchre.

The Church of the Holy Sepulcher is the most sacred site in the world for millions of Christians. This is the site of the crucifixion, burial and resurrection of Jesus. Helena identified this place as The Calvary, where Jesus was crucified.  Calvary, or Golgotha, (Aramaic: “Skull”) also called Calvary, (from Latin calva: “bald head” or “skull”), skull-shaped hill in ancient Jerusalem, the site of Jesus’ crucifixion. It is referred to in all four Gospels (Matthew 27:33, Mark 15:22, Luke 23:33, and John 19:17). According to the New Testament, Jesus was crucified at a spot outside Jerusalem called Golgotha, which in Aramaic means “place of the skull.” The Latin word for skull is calvaria, and in English many Christians refer to the site of the crucifixion as Calvary.

Second part of your tour continue on to Bethlehem. Drive towards Bethlehem via the Nativity Circle and visit Bethlehem’s Manger Square, named after the manger Jesus was born in. Manger Square is home to the Church of the Nativity, one of the world’s oldest-standing churches still functioning to this day.

Visit visit the main Church of the Nativity, designed in the typical Roman-style and constructed on the ruins of its predecessor in 565 AD, as well as the Catholic Church of St. Catherine, adjoining the Basilica of the Nativity. Underneath the Church stands the Grotto of the Nativity, the cave in which Jesus was born, the exact spot of birth is marked by a 14-pointed star of silver set into the floor.

If possible, we also visit the adjacent Church of Saint Catherine where we descend to subterranean caves and see sacred tombs and chapels. We make our way back to Jerusalem passing the Church of the Angels in Shepherds Field and the Field of Ruth where King David’s great grandmother met Boaz. Return transfer after the tour to pickup point.

Bethlehem part of the tour:  Bethlehem part of the tour is subject to Palestinian authority regulations. Change of vehicles required during the tour. Bethlehem part guided by local Palestinian guide only. Passports mandatory –  required on the tour day.

Day 3: Masada Fortress and Dead Sea Beach Relax

Descend to the Judean Desert via the inn of the Good Samaritan. Drive along the shores of the Dead Sea to Masada where you will learn about the heroic story of the Jewish fighters. Ascend Masada by cable car to tour the 2000-year-old fortress and palace built by King Herod, where the Zealots of the first century made their last stand against the Romans.  This is the largest and most complete Roman siege camp that remains today. Visit the remains of the walls, palace, synagogue, water cisterns, mosaic floors, roman baths, and other findings. In 2001 UNESCO declared Masada as a World Heritage Site. Descend by Cable Car.

Drive via Ein Gedi, passing by Qumran where you will get a side view of the Qumran caves where the Dead Sea Scrolls were discovered.

Continue to the Dead Sea. Float in the mineral-rich Dead Sea which, at 400m below sea level, is the lowest place on earth. Take a mud-bath and benefit from the therapeutic qualities of the natural Dead Sea mud. Enjoy the unique opportunity to float in the Dead Sea and cover yourself with the mineral-rich mud, that many believe has its therapeutic effects. Return transfer to pick up point.

Day 4: Nazareth & Sea of Galilee area. Jordan River Yardenit Baptismal Complex

Early morning pickup from your Jerusalem main pickup point. Check out from your Jerusalem hotel before the tour and finish your day in Tel Aviv.

Today we are shifting gears; we change direction heading North Israel. The destination is Nazareth, Tabgha, Capernaum and the Sea of Galilee and Jordan River Yardenit.

The first gem of your tour will be Nazareth city of religion and faith, of spirituality and holiness, but also a city with a rich history, fascinating archeology, modern culture and Middle Eastern charm. Nazareth, which began as a small Jewish village about 2,000 years ago, became a stronghold of Christianity in the Byzantine period, just a few hundred years later. During that period the name of Nazareth spread far and wide, and the yearnings to see the place where the Virgin Mary and Jesus Christ had lived turned the city into a popular pilgrimage site. We will visit the Church of Annunciation and the Church of St. Josef.

After Nazareth, we continue our way through Kana to Tiberias, Sea of Galilee. We drive along Kineret Lake to visit Capernaum. Next, we visit Tabgha, located at the foot of Golan Heights, site of the miracle of fish and loaves.

Proceed to Yardenit, situated on the banks of the Jordan River, flowing forth from the Sea of Galilee, the baptismal site of Yardenit welcomes over half a million tourists and pilgrims annually who come to experience the spirituality and pastoral beauty of the waters of the River Jordan, in which Jesus was baptized by John the Baptist.

According to the Christian faith, the Jordan River YARDENIT is considered the third most holy site in the Holy Land, just after Nativity Grotto in Bethlehem and Golgotha in Jerusalem, because it is the site of the most important event of Jesus’ life – his baptism and beginning of his ministry. The site offers 12 separate baptismal pools, enabling different groups to comfortably conduct private worship ceremonies. Return transfer to hotel in Tel Aviv after the tour.

Wonderful day with Avi

★★★★★
“ Avi was absolutely wonderful!! We had such a great day with him visiting Masada, Ein Gedi, and the Dead Sea. He was kind, patient, and incredibly knowledgeable, and he made the whole experience feel easy, interesting, and fun. He adapted perfectly to our family and kept our two kids engaged, even in the heat. He always knew where to stop, where to find shade, and how to share the history in a way that was fascinating but never too heavy. His car was also very comfortable, which made the long drive to and from Tel Aviv so much easier. It was a long, hot day, but it went by so fast because we were having such a good time. We would absolutely book Avi again and are already looking forward to more adventures with him!”
- Kelly L

Amazing experience!

★★★★★
“ I had an amazing experience at the Dead Sea and Masada tour, and a huge part of that was thanks to our guide, Enrique. He was incredibly knowledgeable and shared so much fascinating history throughout the entire trip you could tell he genuinely loves what he does and knows the subject inside and out. Enrique was extremely kind, welcoming, and friendly from start to finish. He made everyone feel comfortable and taken care of, and his hospitality really stood out. The whole experience felt organized, fun, and personal because of him. If you’re thinking about doing a Dead Sea and Masada tour, I highly recommend it and if you get Enrique as your guide, you’re in great hands.”

★★★★★
“ Wife and I visited Petra with overnight at Wadi Rum Bedouin camp in Jordan. We have been discussing this trip for 10 years and it did not disappoint. Both sites are incredible, tour guides are very friendly and knowledgeable, accommodations are excellent and food is delicious.
