Jerusalem Jesus Footsteps Tour

Detailed itinerary:

Jerusalem Jesus Footsteps Tour from Tel AvivOn this Christian Jerusalem tour you can follow in the footsteps of Jesus and visit sites where major Biblical events took place. Our tour starts on the Mount of Olives were we visit the Church of the Ascension. The church marks the spot where Jesus ascended to heaven and there is a rock with an imprinted footprint thought to be where Jesus stood before his ascension.

Nearby is the Church of the Pater Noster (Sanctuary of the Eleona), on this spot Jesus taught the Lord’s Prayer. There are plaques on the walls with the Lord’s Prayer written in more than a hundred languages. We see a Crusader cloister and the grotto where Jesus would have taught. This is also where Jesus told his disciples of the eminent destruction of Jerusalem and the 2nd coming.

From the Mount of Olives we look out over the City of Gold across the ancient Jewish cemetery and to the Old City and the Temple Mount beyond. We begin to descend the mount pausing at the Dominus Flevit (the Lord Wept). It was here that Christ cried as he envisioned the destruction of Jerusalem. The Dominus Flevit was designed by architect Antonio Berluzzi to resemble a teardrop. Through the window above the altar we can see the Old City where the two Jewish temples once stood. A little further along we get to the Church of All Nations and the Garden of Gethsemane. It was here that Jesus prayed before his arrest. The church was funded by a number of nations which each have their coat of arms displayed in decorative glass on the ceiling. The entrance is through tall columns which support a mosaic showing Jesus as the connection between God and man.

We cross the Kidron Valley and arrive at the Lion’s Gate of Jerusalem’s Old City. We see the pools of Bethesda as mentioned in the Gospel of John.

We visit the Crusader Church of Saint Anne constructed above a grotto thought to be where Jesus’ mother Mary was born. In the Convent of the Sisters of Zion we enter the cellars to see the water cistern dating back to the Second Temple. We see the Lithostratos, engraved Roman flagstones, which are part of extensive archaeological findings beneath the convent. It is believed that here Pontius Pilate stood in judgment of Jesus in the courtyard of Praetorium.

From here we set out along the Via Dolorosa retracing the route Jesus took as he carried his cross towards his crucifixion. We see the Stations of the Cross where Jesus stopped along the Way of Sorrows. It was here that Jesus was crucified on Golgotha and Christ’s burial tomb is within the church. The vast Byzantine basilica has many alters and within the church are five of the Stations of the Cross.

The Jerusalem tour retraces Jesus route along the Via Dolorosa through the Old City pausing at the Stations of the Cross. Return transfer after the tour to pick up point.

Ask for Enrique for your trips in Israel when booking with Compass Travel!

★★★★★
We booked a private tour with Compass Travels for a trip to Jerusalem and Bethlehem. Easy booking process and communication was spot on. But the star of the show was our guide Enrique! It was my best ever guided tour in any country. Enrique was super informative (both for Christians and Non-Christians alike) and extremely entertaining at the same time. His mix of humour and knowledge about the land, the history and just the world in general kept us engaged throughout our 12-hour long tour! I would highly recommend Enrique for any of your trip in Israel and ask Compass travel for Enrique when booking with them.

Lo mejor de Israel!

★★★★★

Breathtaking Jerusalem and Bethlehem done with a 5 star ++ tour

★★★★★
This is 100% hands down the best tour I have ever been on. Travelling all the way from Australia this was literally the highlight of our trip. Avi our tour guide was amazing, welcoming, extremely knowledgeable and showed us all the secret spots on the tour of Jerusalem and Bethlehem that you just wouldn't get on a large bus tour. He treated us to some delicious traditional sesame bread and coffee, which as lovely experience. The vechile was beautiful, luxurious, new, clean with a fantastic A/C. We wanted a tour that delivered all the highlights of Jerusalem plus Bethlehem and this tour delivered that and more. The sights are breathtaking and definitely ticket all the boxes and more. If I could put down more stars I would. You cannot go past this tour, if you want to do the Jerusalem and Bethlehem right.

The Perfect One Day Tour

★★★★★
Yaniv our guide was wonderful. He was waiting for us to disembark which meant we could start the tour immediately. Yaniv was very thorough with all his knowledge and we really enjoyed learning things we had no knowledge of prior. We like to tour fast and Yaniv adapted the tour to take this into account by showing us places that were not necessarily on the tour booked but ensured we got to experience a full 10 hours of touring. Thank you Yaniv for a fantastic day - it was extremely enjoyable.

Fantastic Tour with Excellent Guides — Highly Recommend!

★★★★★
This tour was incredible. Spending only one day in Bethlehem and Jerusalem is daunting because there are so many places to see, but, when you have a guide like Yaniv, it’s not only possible, but it’s so enjoyable. Yaniv was a phenomenal guide—personable, knowledgeable, hilarious, and kind. He truly went above and beyond, letting our group stop at (far too many) local shops along our routes and taking us on local short cuts that allowed us to skip lines and see more things in less time. Make sure you’re well-rested before going on this tour, because it’s a long one, but it’s so worth it. Our driver, Abu Isa, was also amazing. The Mercedes shuttle was spacious, air conditioned, and very clean, and Abu Isa was always ready for our group whenever we would leave a spot to head on to the next. We never had to wait for our ride a single time the whole tour because Abu Isa was always ready for us. On the whole, this tour is amazing, perfect for those who have a full day to spend and want to see the highlights of Jerusalem and Bethlehem while also having time to get a taste for the local culture. Make sure to ask for Yaniv and Abu Isa!

Trip of a lifetime!!!

★★★★★
Our tour guide Enrique was so knowledgeable with history, he literally brought the Bible to life for us! We saw the Bible with our own eyes (and a little imagination). This trip was the trip of a lifetime and I would recommend this to anyone who loves Jesus and some hidden gems! I can’t say enough about our tour…It was AMAZING!! A HUGE thanks to Benjamin with Compass Travel, who helped me navigate some of the process and he was always in communication! These two are lovely! Couldn’t ask for better!
