Jerusalem Half Day Tour

Detailed itinerary:

Your half day tour in Jerusalem starts with a breathtaking panoramic overview of Jerusalem old city from the Mt. Scopus. Gaze across the Old City walls to the Temple Mount, the site of the sacred Temple that was destroyed in 70 AD. As we make our way down the slopes of Mt. Scopus, we will pass by a 3,000-year-old Jewish cemetery, the Garden of Gethsemane, and the Church of All Nations. On the route, we will also drive past the impressive ancient Jewish tombs that line the biblical Kidron Valley.

Our journey continues through the Zion Gate, one of several Ottoman-era gates in the Old City walls. Once inside the picturesque Jewish Quarter, we will explore the 1,500-year-old Cardo, a Byzantine street that has been beautifully excavated. Our next stop will be the Western Wall, a renowned Jewish landmark and one of the most sacred places in the world. This section of wall is the only surviving part of the outer retaining walls that once enclosed the Second Holy Jewish Temple on Temple Mount. You will have the chance to place a prayer note in the crevices of the wall and soak up the spirituality of this unforgettable site.

Continuing on, we will join the Via Dolorosa at the 5th Station of the Cross, where we will retrace the steps of Jesus as he carried his cross from his judgment to his crucifixion at Calvary. This journey along the Way of Sorrow concludes at the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, which houses the final Stations of the Cross, including the site of Jesus’ crucifixion and burial tomb. This ornate 4th-century church is now shared by several Christian denominations and is home to over 30 chapels, each rich in history and tradition.

Finally, we will walk through the traditional Old City bazaar, where you can immerse yourself in the vibrant colors and characters of a typical Middle Eastern market, bringing this unforgettable half-day tour to a close.  The tour ends estimated at 13:30 in the Jerusalem Old City near to Jaffa Gate, where you can continue with your own. Please note that transportation back to your hotel is not included.
