Travel through the spectacular Judean Desert, enjoying panoramic views of its dramatic hills and remarkable desert landscape. Along the route, pass the Inn of the Good Samaritan, a historic site associated with the biblical parable, and stop briefly at a scenic viewpoint overlooking the desert.

Continue toward Jericho, where you will enjoy an overview of this historic oasis city from a suitable viewpoint, learning about its biblical significance and ancient history without visiting sites within the city.

Proceed to Qasr al-Yahud, the traditional baptismal site on the Jordan River, where Jesus is believed to have been baptized by John the Baptist. Enjoy time at this important Christian pilgrimage site.

Drive towards Bethlehem via the Nativity Circle and visit Bethlehem’s Manger Square, named after the manger Jesus was born in. Manger Square is home to the Church of the Nativity, one of the world’s oldest standing churches still functioning to this day.

We will visit the main Basilica of the Nativity, designed in the typical Roman-style and constructed on the ruins of its predecessor in 565 AD, as well as the Catholic Church of St. Catherine, adjoining the Basilica of the Nativity.

Underneath the Church stands the Grotto of the Nativity, the cave in which Jesus was born, the exact spot of birth is marked by a 14-pointed star of silver set into the floor. We also visit the nearby Milk Grotto, where Mary nursed her son. A Franciscan Chapel is built above the Milk Grotto.

Our last stop in Bethlehem before returning to Jerusalem will be a beautiful overview of the Shepherds’ Fields and the Church of the Shepherds’ Fields. Return to point of pickup.

  • Bethlehem part of the tour:  Bethlehem part of the tour is subject to Palestinian authority regulations. Change of vehicles required during the tour. Bethlehem part guided by local Palestinian guide only. Passports mandatory –  required on the tour day.

  • Jericho part of the tour: The tour does not include entry into the city of Jericho or visits to sites within the city. Only a panoramic overview of Jericho is included, followed by a visit to Qasr al-Yahud, subject to current security conditions and access restrictions.

  • Qasr al-Yahud, the traditional baptismal site on the Jordan River. Guests may have the option to participate in a baptism ceremony at the site, subject to availability, local regulations, and current security and access conditions.

  • A dress code is required to enter places of worship and selected museums. No shorts or sleeveless tops allowed. Knees and shoulders MUST be covered for both men and women. You may risk refused entry if you fail to comply with these dress requirements. Dress code is smart casual.
