Nazareth & Galilee & Jordan River Yardenit Group Tour ITINERARY
Departure from your pickup point to Nazareth, city of religion and faith, of spirituality and holiness, but also a city with a rich history, fascinating archaeology, modern culture and Middle Eastern charm. Nazareth, which began as a small Jewish village about 2,000 years ago, became a stronghold of Christianity in the Byzantine period, just a few hundred years later.
Arrive in Nazareth and visit St. Joseph’s Church and the Church of the Annunciation. The Church of the Annunciation in Nazareth is one of the most sacred sites in Christianity because it commemorates the moment when the Angel Gabriel announced to Mary that she would conceive by the Holy Spirit and give birth to Jesus Christ. This event known as the Annunciation, marks the beginning of the Incarnation, when God took human form.
St. Joseph’s Church in Nazareth is deeply significant to Christians as it is traditionally associated with the home and workshop of St. Joseph, the earthly father of Jesus and husband of the Virgin Mary. It stands beside the Church of the Annunciation, together forming the heart of Christian Nazareth.
Continue onward via Cana (Kfar Kana) to overview the Mount of Beatitudes and visit The Church of the Multiplication of the Loaves and Fish at Tabgha. Tabgha is the site where Jesus miraculously fed the multitude with five loaves and two fish. The Church of the Multiplication – Tabgha tell the story of miracle, symbolizing Jesus’ compassion and God’s abundance.
Set on the northwest shore of the Sea of Galilee, you will stop to view the sea, and continue to the nearby ruins of the ancient synagogue of Capernaum. Capernaum, on the northern shore of the Sea of Galilee, is one of the most significant sites in the New Testament and is often called “Jesus’ own town.” After leaving Nazareth, Jesus made Capernaum the center of His public ministry in Galilee. Many of Jesus’ teachings and miracles took place here, including healings and exorcisms. Capernaum is where Jesus called several of His disciples, among them Peter, Andrew, James, and John.
Proceed to Yardenit, situated on the banks of the Jordan River, flowing forth from the Sea of Galilee, the baptismal site of Yardenit welcomes over half a million tourists and pilgrims annually who come to experience the spirituality and pastoral beauty of the waters of the River Jordan, in which Jesus was baptized by John the Baptist.
Yardenit considered the third most holy site in the Holy Land, just after Nativity Grotto in Bethlehem and Golgotha in Jerusalem, because it is the site of the most important event of Jesus’ life – his baptism and beginning of his ministry. The site offers 12 separate baptismal pools, enabling different groups to comfortably conduct private baptismal ceremonies. When visiting Yardenit, the recognized baptismal site on the Jordan River, visitors have the meaningful opportunity to be baptized or renew their baptism vows in the waters where Jesus was baptized by John the Baptist.
On our way back, we will get a chance to see Mt. Tabor, the site of transfiguration. Return transfer to pickup point.
