City of David & Underground Jerusalem Tour from Herzliya ITINERARY

This City of David Tour and Underground Jerusalem Tour starts as we take in the view of Jerusalem from Mount Scopus. From here we can look down on an ancient Jewish cemetery and beyond the Old City walls to Temple Mount, site of the Dome of the Rock.

The tour pauses at the Kidron Valley’s ancient Jewish burial tombs then we rejoin the bus and continue on to the Old City.

The tour takes you through the Zion Gate into Jewish Quarter to see the excavated 1500-year-old Byzantine-era Cardo, once the main thoroughfare of Jerusalem. Later the Crusaders build shops along this route where modern stores now fill the historic spaces.

The highlight of any Jewish Jerusalem tour is the Western Wall; the last surviving part of the Second Temple that was destroyed in 70AD. Jews come from across the globe to pray at the Western Wall (Kotel) and place a prayer note between the wall’s ancient stones.

We leave the Old City via the Dung Gate and enter the City of David to tour underground Jerusalem. This excavated city is believed to have been the original settlement in Jerusalem dating back 3,000 years.

Ingenious subterranean tunnels were carved out of the rock to bring water from the Gihon Spring to the Pool of Siloam at the City of David. We pause at the Spring of Gihon before concluding the tour.

Return transfer after the tour to pick up point.

Wonderful day with Avi

★★★★★
“ Avi was absolutely wonderful!! We had such a great day with him visiting Masada, Ein Gedi, and the Dead Sea. He was kind, patient, and incredibly knowledgeable, and he made the whole experience feel easy, interesting, and fun. He adapted perfectly to our family and kept our two kids engaged, even in the heat. He always knew where to stop, where to find shade, and how to share the history in a way that was fascinating but never too heavy. His car was also very comfortable, which made the long drive to and from Tel Aviv so much easier. It was a long, hot day, but it went by so fast because we were having such a good time. We would absolutely book Avi again and are already looking forward to more adventures with him!”

Amazing experience!

★★★★★
“ I had an amazing experience at the Dead Sea and Masada tour, and a huge part of that was thanks to our guide, Enrique. He was incredibly knowledgeable and shared so much fascinating history throughout the entire trip you could tell he genuinely loves what he does and knows the subject inside and out. Enrique was extremely kind, welcoming, and friendly from start to finish. He made everyone feel comfortable and taken care of, and his hospitality really stood out. The whole experience felt organized, fun, and personal because of him. If you’re thinking about doing a Dead Sea and Masada tour, I highly recommend it and if you get Enrique as your guide, you’re in great hands.”

Both sites are incredible, tour guides are very friendly and knowledgeable, accommodations are excellent and food is delicious. Flight to/from Tel Aviv and crossing to/from Eilat to Aqaba were not complicated. If you want to see these wonders of the world, don’t hesitate - you will not be disappointed.”
